A Daughter's Revelation... Mom Started Painting Again
My mom did exactly what most of our moms did for us... she constantly did for everyone else. She was "Mom" and she took pride in her self-sacrificing years of raising the family.
Was Mom happy?
Mom turned 60 this year, and guess what she did right around her birthday? She brought out her dusty paintbrushes and lit up the room with a new painting, entitled Every Child is a Gift (above) .
REVELATION, REVELATION, REVELATION!
I was ecstatic that Mom was painting again, and so were my sisters! Something opened in my heart, a bright happiness... because the one who created me was creating something of her own. She was firing up her own creative juices that had been set aside for later for so many years. And that seemed to make my creativity automatically increase on an energetic level. A secret revealed: "The happier we make ourselves, the more we shine from the inside, and the more others around us shine."
I have heard the expression before, "the happier mom is, the happier the family is." It doesn't mean we need to please Mom and make her happy so we'll be happy. Its more about Mom being the core of the family. The more Mom resonates wellness, the more the family resonates wellness.
The point of this article? Stop self sacrificing and start self caring, it leaves a much more meaningful legacy for your children! Being selfish is absolutely necessary!
Mom's notations on this piece:
"All children start out as angels. Where do they turn? Who nurtures them?
It is the parent's task to maintain a child's angelic inner child."
